It's probably for the best (or worst?) that you gave money to a begging gypsy that one time, because now, you can travel between this realm a somewhat identical, parallel realm by saying "up" or "down." You're just that gifted, kid.  You've seen some strange things in the other world--your friends replaced with monsters, your things replaced with, uh, other things, and other strange ideas. You tried to tell this to your family, but they didn't believe you. Big mistake, my friend.

Now you're in a psych ward. You'd do anything to get out of this hellhole. Even the family that put you in wants you back - but the doctors keep diagnosing problems you know you don't have. The good news is that Maggie, the supervising nurse, won't notice you unless you go past her desk. The bad news is, well, you're not out yet.

But tonight is when you decided to make your getaway. Tomorrow's your big medical evaluation, and none other than Maggie, who's called you an "aggravating spider" just yesterday, is representing you. Why would you not escape?

Bedroom
Maggie has called lights-out for the evening. The window lets in a small amount of pink light from a gas station sign outside. You're in your green-walled bedroom in one of the wings of the psych ward, with an exit to the North.

The teddy bear you brought from home is sitting in a dull, dusty trance on the nightstand.
